About the foundation
In 2000 when Joe and Julie Breschi decided to begin their family, they had their first born, Michael. Mike was a lively soul whose life was taken tragically at just three and a half years old. The Michael Breschi foundation is a way that Mike's name can live on through young adults in hopes to spread love and inspiration among the younger generation.
Our Foundation’s main focus is to not only honor Mike's spirit, but to raise awareness around the lacrosse community to prioritize family as the days we have are precious. Through this organization we find ways to give back to the community by supporting other charities and teaching young kids the game of lacrosse from college level athletes.
Additionally, we help fund The Michael Breschi Scholarship at The Ohio State University. This scholarship was founded upon Michael’s death in 2004 by the generosity of family and friends across the country. The scholarship is awarded annually to a member of the Ohio State Men's Lacrosse Team. The recipient is chosen by Joe and Julie Breschi with the help of Nick Myers, Head Coach of Ohio State Men’s Lacrosse. Together they select the player who most exemplifies what they hope Michael would have grown to be like; someone who shows great companionship, dedication, and character. This award and scholarship is given out during the reception following the OSU vs. UNC scrimmage. This reception is a time for everyone to come together in celebration of life and love. Over the years this event has become a joyous time for family, friends and fellowship as we all spend quality time together and share cherished moments.
